SEMI has announced that SEMICON Europa will move to Dresden in Germany in 2009. SEMI has had difficulty in maintaining the level of exhibition the show once had and moved to Stuttgart only last year. One of the key factors for the move to Dresden appears to be the support of Dresden and Saxony. The details of the support were not revealed but both the City of Dresden and the State of Saxony are involved in the plan.
Authorities have approved Bosch and Samsung joint venture for lithium-ion batteries. The operation is planned to start in September 2008 and the production of lithium-ion batteries is estimated to start in 2011.
