Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) is the global industry association for the equipment manufacturers, material and service providers to the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries.

Function
Develop and manage all functions related to the Public Policy program of SEMI Europe, including relations with governments and financial institutions.

1. Communicate and coordinate interactions between SEMI and EU Commission officials, Members of the European Parliament and their staff.
2. Provide expertise to SEMI members to implement SEMI’s Public Policy agenda. Cooperate with other associations and promote the creation of any other informal body to support the agenda’s implementation.
3. Prepare written and oral reports for timely dissemination to SEMI members.
4. Manage meetings and briefings, oral and written communications with SEMI members and global staff.

Profile
● Education in MA in Political Science, Economics or a related subject or comparable experience.
● Experience with lobbying for the electronic industry required.
● Minimum ten years progressive experience dealing with governmental and other public policy actors, and officials of varying levels, including experience with working with the European Union and possibly national governments in Europe.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. French and German a plus.

However, the one of our client is outstanding: Formed in 1999 in the US, Nasdaq listed company manufactures photovoltaic modules with an advanced thin film semiconductor process enabling them to produce at the lowest cost per watt in the industry. Grid parity comes into reach, and growth nearly seems to have no limits. In the third quarter of fiscal 2007, revenues more than doubled compared to the second quarter, up to about 160 million $, accompanied by a net income of 46 million $!

It nearly goes without saying that our client commits to a very strong EHS policy. There, too First Solar sets the benchmark: by managing the complete product life cycle in a perpetually renewable cycle and by striving for continuous improvement in all fields of environmental, health and safety management. The operations in Europe consist of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the Berlin area and of sales and services offices in several European countries. The organisation is strongly expanding and is now seeking for a highly professional EHS expert at director level who preferably combines knowledge of all EHS related topics and developments with an intense photovoltaic or semiconductor manufacturing background and a strong track record as lobbyist and relationship manager. Your role comprises to build and maintain external networks with key governmental officials, opinion leaders, NGOs and trade associations on one side, and, on the other side, to work close coordination with all internal colleagues in order to ensure the EHS strategy.

A minimum of 8 years experience within the European and/or German EHS regulatory affairs environment, including a longer period in a lead regulatory affairs role for a corporation, is required; an MS and/or PhD in a scientific or EHS related discipline as well.
